As a Business Development Manager (BDM) for Bunzl Grocery, you will be responsible for analyzing a geographic market, identifying target customers and creing selling stregies for successful new account generion. You will be responsible for creing a pipeline of new opportunities and consistently achieving new business development and sales goals by identifying, qualifying, cultiving, and closing prospects. Your target customers should meet identified financial, operional, and other business goals. You will sell a large calog of disposable items including paper and plastic products & packaging, to-go packaging, janitorial supplies, and other food service items to grocery stores and independent food markets in the geography.
This geography covers the Southern California Region, including Los Angeles, Orange County and the Bay Area. This BDM will be part of Bunzl’s Field Grocery division and will report to the RVP of the region.
Responsibilities:
- Cree a new business pipeline by identifying, qualifying, cultiving, and closing prospects through outcome selling methods.
- Identify estimed sales volume and probability of success to inform approprie internal stakeholders.
- Identify and cree selling stregies within the Bunzl new business development framework for successful new account generion.
- Maintain consistent outreach to identified leads and use provided system (e.g., activity tracking workbook, CRM software) to report on weekly sales activity. Actively upde contact and new account informion within system on a consistent basis.
- Successfully achieve financial goals and new business development metrics monthly.
- Lead contract negotiions, coordine complex decision-making process, and overcome objections to capture new business opportunities.
- Work collaborively with cross-functional teams to develop value-based proposals. Build proposals by building client relionships by understanding desired outcome(s) and necessary solutions to meet outcomes by maximizing Bunzl’s offering. Oversee all new contracts through to close.
- Provide weekly and monthly reporting on pipeline, sales activity, and other approprie metrics.
- Identify and tend tradeshows, channel-specific conferences, and other events th genere qualified new business leads. Report on all event activity.
- Stay up to de on market trends, competitor business, retail prospects, and best practices in business development.
- Provide support to other sales and marketing functions, as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
- 7+ years’ of demonstred success in sales and/or business development in a client-facing environment.
- Retail experience highly preferred, with emphasis on Grocery
- A self-starter with the ability to identify and prioritize opportunities throughout the sales solicition process.
- Strong financial and analytical skills
- Previous people leadership or demonstred peer leadership is preferred
- Excellent presention skills
- Demonstred leadership skills with an ability to influence stakeholders and customers all levels of an organizion.
- Ability to genere actionable insights from da and transle into client-facing selling stories.
- Experience of retail supply chain, distribution, operions, and/or ecommerce- preferred
- This position will require travel between 50%-75% of the time, most being travel in the region.
Bunzl salary range: $100-150K (+ bonus and car allowance), based on experience, educion and geographic locion. Bunzl accepts ongoing applicions for this role.
